Behind the Scenes: Men Against Breast Cancer and SafeSpot

On October 26, 2016 T•H•E attended Men Against Breast Cancer’s 14th annual Think Pink and Blue  Awards Reception and Fashion Show. The event helped raise funds and awareness to highlight the critical and vital role men play in being there for the women they love when breast cancer strikes and honor outstanding individuals committed to raising awareness to breast cancer and to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease. It was night of highlighting the amazing donors, cocktails, heavy hors d’ oeuvres, awards, and celebrity dinner auctions. T•H•E models walked in the fashion show alongside Washington D.C. area personalities.

Men Against Breast Cancer is the first and only non-profit organization whose mission is to be there for women who have and have had breast cancer. Its mission is to provide support and empower men to be great caregivers. Since 1999, Men Against Breast Cancer has mobilized men across America, including under-served populations, to be active participants in the fight against breast cancer.

Last fall T•H•E and our models supported SafeSpot by attending and walking the runway in SafeSpot’s charity fashion show.Bloomingdales has hosted the event for the past four years, showcasing clothes from designers on the runway to raise money to support the organization. Last fall, the event garnered more than $80,000. Participants at the event enjoyed a champagne brunch, raffle of luxury items like Washington Capitals tickets and Ferragamo bags, as well a silent auction featuring vacation homes and a weekend lease of an upscale Audi.

SafeSpot provides a centralized, family-friendly location for the investigation of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse allegations, bringing together law enforcement, child protective services, and other critical professionals to minimize the number of times a child has to describe their abuse. Starting at the time of the report, SafeSpot provides services and makes referrals to support children and their families down the path to well-being in the aftermath of the abuse.

At T•H•E we strive to always support local charities, which makes us proud to have been apart of SafeSpot’s charity fashion show for last four years, and years to come.
